A former doctor was arrested on suspicion that he ordered the killing of an ex-associate in a Chisinau gynecological clinic. The man was to pay €10,000 to the killer for the murder. He also obtained a Kalashnikov gun from a former Afghanistan war participant. The latter was also arrested, IPN reports.
The General Police Inspectorates said the man wanted to take revenge on his ex-business partner who refused to cooperate with him after he demanded to name his daughter-in-law the manager of the clinic. As a result, the ex-partner withdrew his assets from the clinic and abandoned the team, being followed by other doctors. The business ultimately went bankrupt, while the former partner in the period developed another healthcare business.
The man communicated only with the direct contact of the “killer”. This was actually an investigator of the National Inspectorate for Investigations under cover. The suspect paid a first installment of €1,500 and was to pay the rest of the money when the killer provided evidence of the murder. He also obtained a Kalashnikov rifle and 30 bullets for the killer. The former Afghanistan war combatant, who is from Dubăsari district and also fought in the Transnistrian conflict, is currently on probation for swindle and abuse of the official status.
The suspect was arrested when he intended to pay the rest of the money. As his state of health worsened, he was admitted to the hospital and continues to stay there. Over US$ 200,000 and more than £17,000, a pistol, drafts and mobile phones were seized during searches at the former doctor’s home.
Prosecutors are to decide whether to ask for remand detention for the two suspects or not.
