Serghei Perju, who formerly participated in the General Prosecutor selection contest, considers that the result was vitiated and is illegal, which is why he filed several appeals. He requested the suspension of the General Prosecutor appointment procedure until the resolution of the appeal and until the ruling on the legality of the decision regarding the final results of the contest are made available.

In a press release, Serghei Perju said that, by the decision of October 29 of the preselection commission of the Ministry of Justice, four candidates made the General Prosecutor short list. In his opinion, "the decision regarding the preselection result was vitiated and is illegal". In this regard, a complaint was filed, to which, the ex-candidate claimed that he did not receive an answer, although he forwarded the complaints to both the new minister of justice and to the Superior Council of Prosecutors.

"I have taken note from available information in the public sphere about several such appeals, filed by other preselection contest participants. These appeals were also not answered, although legal provisions demand it. I believe that the selection of the General Prosecutor is a process that involves transparency, objectivity, impartiality and legality, principles which are required for a genuine independent, efficient, European judicial system, which were seriously violated in the current preselection procedure", said Sergei Perju.

The four candidates, preselected out of the 16 admitted to the General Prosecutor competition, are Oleg Crâșmaru, senior criminal investigation officer at the National Anticorruption Center, Vladislav Gribincea, lawyer and Center for Legal Resources chairman, Veaceslav Soltan, prosecutor and department head within the General Prosecutor's Office, and Alexandr Stoianoglo, lawyer, former deputy General Prosecutor and former Democratic Party MP.

The four candidates were admitted to the interview, which will be held by the Superior Council of Prosecutors on November 28.
