The case of an ex-bailiff who worked for the North Local Chamber and was charged with 12 counts of abuse of power and appropriation was sent to court, IPN reports, quoting the Prosecutor General’s Office.

In 2014 – 2017, when serving as a bailiff, he allegedly withdrew and appropriated the sums that were deposited by debtors on a special account and were to be transferred to creditors. In the period, the accused also misappropriated eight real estate units of a debtor, knowing that these were sequestrated in a criminal case. The damage caused to the injured parties was estimated at over 450,000 lei.

In the spring of 2018, the bailiff was put on the wanted list. In October 2020, he was arrested in Romania and in a month was extradited to Moldova for being held accountable. He was remanded in custody, but refused to make statements. He faces eight to 15 years in jail.
