An ex-prosecutor of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office will stay under house arrest for one more month. He was arrested two months ago, while his accomplice is wanted, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the ex-prosecutor is accused of swindle and abuse of power committed in the interests of an organized criminal group. These actions led to the dispossession of a Russian citizen of property and money in the amount of over €1.8 million.

The case was started over the illegal and abusive acts committed by the Russian citizen’s successors as managers of SA “Natur Bravo”, who, through the agency of anticorruption prosecutors, came into possession of property that belonged to him, valued at over €1.8 million, including an apartment in London and real estate in the Russian city Krasnodar.

The property was transferred while the Russian citizen was held on remand in Chisinau. The negotiations and documents for signing over this were held and signed inside the Buiucani office of the Chisinau City Court and in offices of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office.

The former anticorruption prosecutor is Roman Statnyi.
