Foreign officials share EU integration experience with Moldova

The policy directors of foreign ministries of Nordic and Baltic countries and the United States, who came together for a meeting of the Enhanced Partnership in Northern Europe (E-PINE) in Chisinau, shared their development and EU integration experience with Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports. The foreign officials had meetings with Prime Minister Vlad Filat, Foreign Minister Iurie Leanca and Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Eugen Carpov. They said they are ready to support Moldova in its European integration efforts as they know from their own experience that this is not an easy path, but they see that the Moldovans made significant progress in this respect. In a press briefing, the officials stressed the necessity of adopting the Antidiscrimination Bill. According to them, this will lead to the modernization and Europeanization of society. The Antidiscrimination Law supplements the legal framework and forms part of the block of laws that ensure the observance of human rights. The state is obliged to protect the human rights and should promote tolerance in society. The delegation has been in Chisinau on April 2-3. Directors’ meetings of this regional initiative take place two times a year in the capital city of one of the member states. In 2012, the presidency of the E-PINE is held by Lithuania, which proposed organizing a meeting outside this format. Moldova was elected as the place for the forum and as main subject for discussion.
