Foreign Ministry employee accused of passive corruption

The head of the Bilateral Relations Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Veaceslav Cebotari, who was arrested on April 15, was charged with passive corruption, Angela Starinski, the head of the press office of the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime, has told Info-Prim Neo. According to prosecution officers, the employee asked €4,000 from a person for helping him obtain a document facilitating the opening of a Moldovan trade promotion center in the United Arab Emirates. The money was transmitted to the employee through the agency of a relative, who was caught red-handed on April 14. Veaceslav Cebotari will remain under arrest for 15 days. He is held at the remand center of the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime.
