The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration considers that Russia’s intention to set up polling places for the March 4 presidential elections in the Transnistrian region is unfriendly, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a communiqué, the Ministry says that it informed the Russian authorities about the lack of impediments to establishing polling places in the settlements controlled by the Moldovan authorities and that they are against opening voting places in the Transition settlements that are not controlled by the constitutional authorities. The Ministry stated it is regrettable that despite the consistent position of the Moldovan side, the Russian authorities ignored the Ministry’s decision on the issue and these acts arouse concern and do not correspond to the good relations established between Moldova and Russia. According to unofficial reports, Russia intends to set up 24 polling places in the breakaway republic of Transnistria.
