He denies that the Chisinau authorities would condition to sign the Convention on small border traffic with the Basic Treaty and the Border Accord. “From the discussions in Chisinau I did not gather there would be any conditionality in connection to the signing of some accord,” he stated . Diaconescu assured that “each state is aware very well of its interests and nobody is willing to register any blockage at this moment.” In his turn, Moldovan Foreign Minister Andrei Stratan has reiterated Chisinau's position to discuss the signing of the Convention on small cross-border traffic within the context of signing the other two treaties: “The topics related to the border crossing regime and the community projects will be examined jointly with the issues related to the Political Treaty of partnership and cooperation with Romania and the Accord on crossing the border between the two states.” According to him, the teams of negotiators are ready to resume the talks on these subjects “very important for both states.” “We have not stood doing nothing till now. It's been a period negotiations and trips both to Bucharest and Chisinau, and we're able to find now that both draft treaties have been negotiated and discussed.
