Almost 300 young people from 13 foreign countries who studied at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Nicolae Testemitanu”, on June 13 took the doctor’s oath in a ceremony held at the National Palace “Nicolae Sulac” in Chisinau, IPN reports.

The University’s deputy rector Mihail Gavriliuc said 90% of the foreign graduates are from Israel. The experience of the previous years shows most of these choose to return home after graduation and few of them remain in Moldova.

Mihail Gavriliuc transmitted a message from rector Ion Ababii, who wished the graduates success and to practice responsibly. In his message, the rector says the graduation of the university is a start and by taking an oath the doctor assumes the duty of taking care of the people’s s health.

Attending the event, secretary of state at the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection Boris Gilca said the governments of the states from which the foreign graduates come should be sure that their national health systems will now have well-trained employees. “For the Republic of Moldova, it was an honor to play host to these students. The quality of studies in the Republic of Moldova is now appreciated at international level,” he stated.

As many as 992 students graduated from “Nicolae Testemitanu” University this year. Of these, 292 are foreigners.
