The tender contests for selecting the contractors that will repair the national roads with the European funds will take place in the second half of the year. The designing works will start also then. Thus, no money will be probably spent this year from the loans and grants provided by the European donors for the purpose, Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure Anatol Salaru said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. According to the minister, it has not been yet decided what amount of the €1.9 billion provided by the foreign donors will go to repair the roads. “When the approved projects are launched, their efficiency will increase considerably and the works in 2011 will not be interrupted owing to a shortage of funds. We must use the allocated sums by the expected time. Otherwise, we will lose them,” Anatol Salaru said. The Government continues to negotiate for more financing for repairing the roads so that the sums could exceed the amount agreed earlier, the minister added.
