The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova expresses is concern about the recent worsening of the situation in the conflict area of Nagorno-Karabakh, which led to the loss of human lives, including among the civilian population, IPN reports.

In a press release, the Ministry says that given such circumstances, the Moldovan authorities call on the conflicting sides to refrain from using force, to respect the ceasefire regime and to avoid a possible escalation of hostilities.

The Republic of Moldova supports the efforts of the international community, in particular of the OSCE Group in Minsk that includes Russia, France and the United States, to restore peace in the region and to identify a peaceful solution to the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The conflict over the province Nagorno-Karabakh between Azerbaijan and Armenia started at the end of the 1980s. Earlier this month, the fighting over the disputed territory resumed after over 20 years of the ceasefire.
