Moldova and Ukraine tend to identify solutions to the problems persisting in the relations between the two states by common effort. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova Aureliu Ciocoi said the sides agreed to give a new impetus to the dialogue between the two countries so that the bilateral relations enter a new high-quality stage. The statements were made after a meeting with the Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba, who is paying a visit to Chisinau, IPN reports.

“We evidently discussed our common cooperation at the regional and international levels and verified our common positions on the process of modernizing our countries and the European integration process, where we found a lot of connections and absolutely identical positions. I also discussed regional and international security aspects with Mister Minister Kuleba,” stated Aureliu Ciocoi.

This is the first visit paid by a Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to Moldova since 2014. Dmytro Kuleba said that Moldova and Ukraine will be making effort to prevent such long pauses in the bilateral dialogue. The minister noted that Ukraine is interested in establishing contacts with Moldova at all levels, including in a meeting with President-elect Maia Sandu.

“We raised a wide range of issues with my counterpart and agreed that the security of the Republic of Moldova is the security of Ukraine and vice versa. This is the basic principle that should lay at the basis of our relations. We want more economy, more projects in the field of infrastructure. I hope that we will cooperate together in our common relations with the European Union. In particular, we agreed to have consultations on the European integration of our states,” noted Dmytro Kuleba.
