The Association “Force of Farmers” set an economic local warning protest for September 20. Farmers will take their agricultural machines and equipment to the street. They warn the authorities that if they are not helped, they will take their machines to the center of Chisinau, IPN reports.

The Association said farmers’ demands remained the same. The farmers insist that the Commission for Exceptional Situations should take decisions to defer their payments to creditors without facing penalties, to provide tax concessions to them, in particular to enable them to use the VAT from the account to pay taxes and contributions, and to persuade the foreign partners to offer subsidies to the farmers affected by drought.

“Regrettably, despite the statements made by government officials and the verbal agreements, no solutions were found to the aforementioned problems. Also, Missis Prime Minster for a month has refused to discuss the given subjects with representatives of farmers’ organizations. Against such a background, the farmers already started to be financially pressed by banks and suppliers of inputs and also by tax inspectors. This will considerably affect the process of performing autumn/spring field works and significantly increases the risk of bankruptcy for the small and medium-sized fainters from our villages,” runs the Association’s press release.

The chairman of the National Farmers’ Federation Valeriu Kosarchuk said the entity he represents will not take part for now in protests, while the chairman of “Moldova Fruct” Association Vitalie Gorinchyoi noted that he is in Cairo on a trip and they will not join in the protest scheduled for Tuesday.
