The For Moldova Platform that includes the MPs of the Shor Party identified a candidate for the post of Prime Minister. The name of this and the list of Cabinet members will be made public as a result of consultations with MPs. In a press briefing, Shor Party MP Marina Tauber said they are not against snap parliamentary elections and consider that these elections should take place, but not amid the crisis. The party is ready to assume responsibility for governance and they are confident that there will be 51 MPs who will vote for their candidate, IPN reports.

Unaffiliated MP Sergiu Sîrbu, a member of the For Moldova Platform, said the person who will be proposed for Premier can design a government program and create a team with which to solve the country’s pressing problems. A parliamentary majority for voting in the candidate suggested by For Moldova can be secured long before the time limit stipulated by the Constitution. During the next few days, the MPs of the For Moldova Platform will stage consultations with the parliamentary groups. The signals from MPs make them confident that the Republic of Moldova will have a fully-fledged Government in this difficult period.

President Maia Sandu, after the consultations she had with the parliamentary groups on December 28, said she reached the conclusion that none of the parties represented in Parliament openly admit to forming part of a majority so that a Cabinet could be proposed. She noted she will come up with a solution she considers appropriate to the political and economic impasse witnessed in the country.

Unaffiliated MPs Sergiu Sîrbu, Eleonora Graur, Ruxanda Glavan, Grigore Repeshchuk, Corneliu Padnevici, Elena Bacalu and the MPs of the Shor Party Ilan Shor, Petru Jardan, Marina Tauber, Reghina Apostolova, Vadim Fotescu, Igor Himici, Denis Ulanov, Violeta Ivanov, and Vladimir Vitiuc formed the parliamentary platform For Moldova in October. The Shor Party said the fact that its MPs joined the platform does not mean that the group of the Shor Party disappeared as they just combined forces for adopting the bills awaited by the citizens and needed by the country.
