The administration of Tiraspol last year recorded losses of over US$500,000 for food that wasn’t eaten in the education institutions of the town. According to “Novyi Reghion” Agency, inspections showed that one quarter of the food prepared for students was thrown. In some cases, there were used fewer products and of a poorer quality than stipulated in documents, IPN reports.
New alimentation rules are now being worked out for education institutions. Under them, from September 1 the school principals will be personally responsible for the bought food and its quality.
The food for education institutions is now prepared by the municipal enterprise “The School Student”. The administration plans to entrust this task to small and private companies with qualified cooks from September.
The officials asked excluding the yogurts and cakes given to children at breakfast from the menu. Starting with the next school year, they will be replaced with warm food.
