Thousands of teachers, students and parents took part in the festivity held to celebrate the start of the new school year on September 2. First graders of the Chisinau Theoretical Lyceum “Gheorghe Asachi” said they want to learn new things, while the students from the twelfth grade stated that this year is very important as they will take the Baccalaureate exams at its end. The students were congratulated by officials and statesmen, IPN reports.

The lyceum’s principle Boris Volosatyi said in the festivity that the first graders represent our future and it is very important for them to be trained and guided. “Dear students, you teachers will be near you on this road. They will teach you to write and read, who you are, from where you come and where you should go,” he stated.

Bishop of “Saint Teodora de la Sihla Church” Ioan Ciuntu blessed the students and called on them to never forget from where they come. “Let God protect you, give you strength, wisdom and grace. I wish you to finish the school year and the school with good results. We expect you to become competent persons,” he stated.

Deputy Minister of Youth and Sport Dragos Hancu, who studied at “Gheorghe Asachi”, urged the students to be proud of the institution where they study. “I was proud of this. Be obedient and learn well,” he said.

First grader Andreea Borodaciov said she is eager to study English and French as she wants to be an interpreter and to travel to many countries. “I wanted to study plastic arts at school as I want to become a painter,” said first grader Catalina Gaina. Twelfth grader Eliza Salari said this year is very important to her as a new stage will start in her life, with more emotions and responsibility.

Prime Minister Iurie Leanca took part in the school year start event at the Cricova Theoretical Lyceum “Alexei Mateevici”. “Today is a special day for all the country. It is a day when the teachers, students and parents put hopes and state their expectations of the new school year,” he said, urging the students to study Romanian, to be informed and free in thinking.
