Members of several political parties and civil society representatives laid flowers at the US Embassy in Chisinau on Tuesday, September 11, in remembrance of the victims of the terrorist attacks 11 years ago. Those who came to the Embassy lit candles and observed a moment of silence, Info-Prim Neo reports. On behalf of his party, PLDM deputy leader Valeriu Strelet expressed condolences for the whole American nation to Ambassador William Moser. “September 11 was an event that shook the whole world. It caused great pain, not only for the American nation, but for all those who opt for a democratic world and harmonious development. This event, regardless of the years that pass, will always remind us that the forces of evil must be kept under control. We, the parliamentary group members, came to bring homage to the whole American nation and to reiterate our resolve to progress on the path of democratic reforms and European reintegration of our country into the family of European and democratic nations”, stated Valeriu Strelet. William Moser answered that he always considered that the events on September 11, 2001, made the American nation stronger and this should be shared with everyone. Liberal Party leader Mihai Ghimpu said that laying flowers at the US Embassy was an act of solidarity with the American nation and that PL’s position was that any conflict should be solved only peacefully. “The tragedy is that we still have people who don’t want to conform to the modern age, when a human’s life is the most important thing”, said Ghimpu. The leaders of the Democratic Action Party laid flowers as well. The PAD delegation was met by Ambassador William Moser, who thanked the representatives of the Democratic Action Party for their compassion.
