Autumn’s start brings along higher prices for flowers. Due to the high sales registered at the end of August, and in the first two months of autumn, the flower sellers will increase prices, reports Info-Prim Neo. The sellers warn that they will increase prices for roses, eustomas, lilies, and gladioluses with up to 10 lei per flower. National holidays, beginning of school year and weddings in this period are the reasons for this price increase. “The roses were not very demanded lately, but we hope the sales will rise once the Fast is over, and the official occasions and weddings season begins”, says a florist. The most demanded flowers of this period are eustomas and chrysanthemums, which currently cost 15 and 20 lei, respectively. A bouquet of lilies costs 60 lei, and one of Peruvian Lilies – 70 lei. Prices for flower compositions vary between 100 and 500 lei. “In two weeks, the price of the compositions will remain the same, but they will contain fewer flowers. It’s not because we’re greedy, but because the flowers will be more expensive”, a florist says. “In the summer flowers were many, and sales were few. Now they will be bought at higher prices, and will not wilt on the stands”, says a seller, who promises that the stands will be richer. According to the sellers, the Dutch flowers are more expensive than Moldovan ones throughout the whole year.
