Thousands of students bid farewell to school on May 31, some of them until autumn, while the others for ever. Most of the students enter the summer vacation, while the graduates will take the Baccalaureate exams and then admission exams to colleges or universities. At the Last Bell Ring celebrations, graduates of the Chisinau-based theoretical Romanian-French high school “Gheorghe Asachi” said they are not afraid of the changes that expect them and of the exams that they have to take, but they admitted they will miss the school, the schoolmates and the teachers, Info-Prim Neo reports. The celebrations at “Gheorghe Asachi” started with the singing of the state anthem and the hoisting of the national flag. “We are close to the last bell ring and can say with certitude that this year was a successful one,” said the school's head Boris Volosatyi. Among the accomplishments, Boris Volosatyi mentioned the return to the old name of the school - theoretical Romanian-French high school “Gheorghe Asachi” that was scandalously changed into theoretical high school “Gheorghe Asachi” in 2006. “Our high school is 146 years old. It is the oldest education institution in Moldova,” the school head said. Attending the event, Deputy Minister of Finance Victor Barbaneagra said he was glad and happy to be among the students. “I know what you feel as I had been a student too 19 years ago,” he said. Teacher Hanganu Angela, the mother of a graduate, thanked the teachers for their contribution towards building the personality of the students and for teaching them to be straight. After students of the high school staged a concert, the celebrations ended traditionally with the last bell ring and the applause of those attending.
