The danger of floods in some of the villages located in the Prut River meadow in southern Moldova will persist until the floodwaters recede completely, Emergencies Service spokeswoman Liliana Puscasu has told Info-Prim Neo. According to the quoted source, the villages in northern Moldova are no more threatened by floods as the Prut water level decreased significantly. The releases from the Costesti-Stanca reservoir were reduced from 493 cubic meter of water per second on Tuesday to 180 cubic meters per second on Wednesday morning. The firefighters and other emergency services disinfected six wells in Ungheni town. Ghioltosu and Gotesti villages of Cantemir district, the quarry, water pumping station and Cantemir-Stoianovca bridge, the level of water of the Saca rivulet, and the village Chircani of Cahul district are under permanent monitoring. Two levees 150 meters long, 4 meters wide and 2.2 meters high have been built in Nemteni. Water has been pumped out of four houses from the village. Specialists say the floodwaters will completely withdraw from Nemteni and Cotul Morii of Hancesti district within 10 days. The water of the Nistru River returned to its normal level.
