According to preliminary calculations, the material losses suffered by the Transnistrian area after the floods can reach $115 million. On 7 August, Russia sent the area humanitarian aid weighing 95 tonnes. It consists of food, power generators, water filters, tents, sleeping sets, Info-Prim Neo's correspondent in the area reports. The aid is offered according to the instructions of Russia's premier Vladimir Putin. The water levels are getting down in six districts of the area. The emergency declared by the Tiraspol leader Igor Smirnov will last till August 9. The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Federation is ready to provide assistance to Transnistria, too, as the administration is compiling a list with the medicines needed. During a trip to the area, a team from “Medicins sans frontieres” have concluded they don't see their assistance as necessary, but don't rule out they will intervene after the consequences of the calamity are assessed.
