Flood victims admitted to university on budget-funded places

The flood victims who applied to state universities were accepted on budget-funded places. The exact number of such persons will become known after August 9, after the second admission round, the head of the Education Ministry’s Higher Education Division Nadejda Velishko has told Info-Prim Neo. According to the secretaries of admission commissions, seven applications were lodged with the State University of Moldova, five with the Technical University of Moldova, while the State University of Medicine and Pharmaceutics “Nicolae Testemitanu” received no application from persons living in the flood-hit areas. Earlier, the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova announced that there are no places available for such persons at the institution, only for orphans. But Nadejda Velishko said they identified other solutions for providing budget-funded places. The young people from the flood-stricken villages this year will benefit from student awards and free accommodation in dormitories, under a recently-adopted Government Decision.
