Five-year-old placed in intensive care with severe burns

A child aged five from Floresti district was taken to Chisinau by a SMURD helicopter after this suffered burns on 70% of the body in a home fire. The child was admitted to the Mother and Child Institute and connected to a medical ventilator.

The fire occurred in a house in Sarbesti village of Floresti district on the night of April 27. Three children aged 5, 9 and 10 ad their mother suffered burns and poisoning and were rushed to the hospital. The youngest child was transported to Chisinau on April 27.

Contacted by IPN, Natalia Lesnic, press officer of the Mother and Child Institute, said the child suffered respiratory tract burns and is permanently under medical supervision. This is under intensive care and is connected to a medical ventilator.

Press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies Liliana Puscasu said three versions of the cause of fire are being examined: a TV set fault, open fire and a short circuit.
