The Buiucani Court issued arrest warrants against all the five persons charged in the case that involved a deputy mayor of Chisinau, the deputy head of the municipal Division of Architecture, Urbanism and Land Relations and a senior inspector of the State Constructions Inspectorate, IPN reports.
According to the National Anticorruption Center, both of the intermediaries investigated in this case were remanded in custody for 20 days. The senior inspector and the deputy mayor were placed under arrested for 25 days. All the procedures are now being performed to transfer the deputy mayor to the hospital of Penitentiary No. 16. The deputy head of the municipal division will stay under arrest for ten days.
The preliminary investigations revealed that the servants of the City Hall, after reaching an agreement with the intermediaries, committed abuses in exchange for pecuniary benefits for hastening the issuing of particular documents. €12,000 is the highest sum given to the public servants as bribe.
