Five people have been sent to court by the Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Causes for the murder of a 37-year-old man that hapend this year on May 25 in the village Vulcănești, Nisporeni district.

In a PCCOCS press release, it is stated that the prosecutors have gathered incontestable evidence, including video footage of the crime, which shows that five villagers went to the victim's house, located in the village of Vulcănești, in the Nisporeni district. "At the gate of his household, in the presence of his wife and minor daughter, they cursed the victim and threatened him with violence. During the altercation, one of the perpetrators, a 24-year-old man that was legally carrying his “Glock” pistol, shot several times in the direction of the victim, causing him multiple gunshot wounds which resulted in death”, is said in the statement.

The young man who fired his gun was charged with murder and aggravated hooliganism and is liable to 15 to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.

The other four persons are charged with aggravated hooliganism for which they could face up to 3 to 7 years in prison.

After the murder was committed, on May 31, a group of residents of Vulcănești village protested in front of the General Prosecutor's Office in Chisinau in order to request an objective investigation into the murder case. The protesters demanded that the case be taken over by the General Prosecutor's Office, since, according to them, the local investigators were bribed by the perpetrators of the murder.

As a result, to exclude any degree of mistrust and misinterpretation regarding the objective nature of the case investigations, the Prosecutor General withdrew the criminal case from the Nisporeni IP management. The case was sent for examination to the Directorate General of Criminal Investigation of the General Inspectorate of Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
