After the founder of a furniture company was arrested earlier this week, five more people have been apprehended in the same case. The police carried out 19 searches at several addresses in Chisinau. The damage allegedly caused in the suspected fraud case exceeds 10 million lei.
The General Police Inspectorate said that the five people detained are three men and two women that work for the company as accountants and sales agents.
The founder of the company is in custody. Prosecutors appealed after the court accepted 20 days of preventive arrest for the main suspect instead of the 30 days requested.
The founder was arrested on Monday. According to the Police, the man employed a scheme to pocket the payments of his customers without making good on the orders.
