The novel coronavirus claimed five more lives in Moldova on April 19. Among the dead is the head of the surgery section of the Orhei District Hospital aged 68. The patient was admitted to the National Clinical Hospital on April 7, IPN reports, quoting the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection.
The victims include two women aged 80 and, respectively, 68 from the municipality of Chisinau.
Among the dead are also a 76-year-old man from Donduşeni district, who was taken to the Bălți Clinical Hospital on April 8, and a 72-year-old man from Gloden district, who was admitted to the Glodeni District Hospital on April 11.
The Ministry said that the testing of 135 persons who were earlier declared with a clinical-epidemiological diagnosis of COVID-19 was completed. Another 45 persons tested positive for the virus. Of the 135 persons with a clinical-epidemiological diagnosis of COVID-19, a total of 84 people tested positive. The persons who tested negative are placed under medical supervision.
As many as 145 new cases of infection with the novel coronavirus were detected on April 19 after processing 640 samples. The total figure rose to 2,472. The death toll from COVID-19 now stands at 67. A number of 457 persons recovered.
