A road accident that involved a car with five Moldovans occurred in a Romanian locality on July 17. A person died, while the others suffered injuries. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration found out more information about the accident through Moldova’s Consulate General in Iasi, IPN reports.
According to the Romanian authorities, the accident happened in Strâmtura commune of Maramureș County. The injured persons were transported to the closest hospital where they were offered the necessary medical assistance.
The Consulate General of the Republic of Moldova in Iasi keeps in touch with the local authorities and is ready to take all the necessary consular actions, said the Ministry.
With reference to the police in Maramureș, the Romanian press reported that the car was driven by a man aged 64 from Moldova and was heading from Rozavlea towards Bârsana. It skidded off the road and stopped in a stone wall. As a result, a female passenger ached 62 died, while the driver and three passengers aged 12, 14 and 18 were hurt. The ethylotest showed the driver wasn’t inebriated. The preliminary version is that the driver fell asleep while moving. The persons were transiting Romania on their way to the West.
