Five underage citizens of Moldova, who have lost parental care in Russia, were repatriated on February 19, Info-Prim Neo learned from the Ministry of Social Protection, Family and Child.
The minors had been found in shelters for children in the cities of Moscow and Vladimir. The four boys and a girl are aged between 2 months and 14 years and come from five districts of Moldova.
Upon their arrival in Moldova, the children have been given shelter in the temporary placement and rehabilitation centre for very young children and in Aschiuta’s House of the organisation Save the Children Moldova. Subsequently, they will be reintegrated into their biological or extended families.
The repatriation mission was conducted in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding signed on 25 October 2007 between the Ministry, the Representative Office of UNICEF in Moldova, and the Representative Office of the Swiss Foundation Terre des Hommes in Moldova.
In 2007, five missions of children’s repatriation from Russia and Ukraine brought 14 children back home.
