Three girls and two boys from Moldova, who remained without parental care, were repatriated from the Russian Federation in cooperation with the Moldovan Embassy in Moscow and with the support of the Swiss Foundation “Terre des Hommes”. According to a communiqué from the Ministry of Social Protection, Family and Child, the minors aged between six months and ten years were identified in temporary placement centres in different Russian towns. The children were accommodated at the Temporary Placement Centre for Minors of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and at the Chisinau-based Small Children’s Rehabilitation Centre. About 130 Moldovan children will be repatriated from the Russian Federation as part of the project “Help the Country’s Children” by the end of 2009. In the country, the children will benefit from the necessary assistance. The project is supported by the Moldovan Embassy in Russia, the Ministry of Social Protection, Family and Child, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Education and Youth, the Temporary Placement Centre for Minors, the Small Children’s Rehabilitation Centre, and implemented with resources from UNICEF, SDC and OSCE.
