Five medical institutions will be outfitted with medical devices that are to be purchased with money provided by Japan. The Government on Wednesday approved a draft decision on the initiation of negotiations and approval of the signing of the Grant Agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency, IPN reports.
Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco said the program to consolidate the medical system envisions the provision of 1 billion Japanese yen in grant funding. The sum is equal to over €7 billion. The money will be used to cover the urgent needs of the health system and to strengthen the capacities of the hospital sector by purchasing medical devices for the benefit of public health facilities of Moldova.
The five institutions are: the Emergency Medicine Institute, the National Clinical Hospital “Timofei Moșneaga”, the Mother and Child Institute, the Oncological Institute and Saint Trinity Municipal Clinic Hospital. According to the minister, these institution offer medical assistance to a larger number of persons, including Ukrainian refugees.
To facilitate the implementation of the project, a medical bioengineer from Japan in June-July had been on a mission in Moldova and helped design the technical specifications for the medical devices that are to be bought in concert with the beneficiary institutions.
