As many as 147 new infections with COVID-19 were recorded in Moldova on May 23, 15 of which in the Transnistrian region. Three more persons lost the battle with the disease in addition to the two deaths reported in the morning. Five persons, one of whom a doctor, succumbed to the disease in total on May 23, IPN reports, with reference to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection.
In a press release, the Ministry said that the three men who died because of the novel coronavirus were aged between 71 and 79. One of them was a doctor. The death toll from COVID-19 now stands at 242.
Moldova has got 6,994 infections with the novel coronavirus so far. A number of 3,452 persons were cured.
