Five candidates for the office of President of Moldova on September 8 applied to the Central Election Commission to have their initiative groups for collecting signatures in their support registered, IPN reports.
According to the Commission, these are: independent candidate Vadim Branzan, the candidate fielded by the Social-Political Movement “Ravnopravie” Ina Popenko, independent candidate Silvia Radu, the candidate of the Party “Moldova’s Patriots” Mihail Garbuz, and independent candidate Anatol Plugaru. A decision as to the registration of the initiative groups will be taken within three days.
Applications for having initiative groups registered can be filed by September 9. Sixteen groups have been registered so far.
