Fishing teen drowns in pond

A teenage boy, 15, drowned Wednesday in a pond in Volentiri village, Stefan Voda district, Info-Prim Neo reports. A spokesperson for the Emergency Department said the boy was enjoying a typical outdoor Moldovan summer fishing with his brother. Their attempt to catch crayfish with their hands eventually turned to a tragedy. The boys are from a typical for rural Moldova large family, left behind by migrant parents. The body was found the same day. Out of 10 child drowning deaths recorded this year, 6 occurred in June.
