A man from the Transnistrian region drowned in the Dubăsari accumulation lake when he went fishing together with his son at night. They were fishing in an opening about eight meters from the bank. In the morning, the ice broke and the 60-year-old man fell under it. His son could not save him as they didn’t have rescue jackets or a rope. He had to return home and to call out rescuers, IPN reports.
The de facto ministry of the interior of the Transnistrian region said the ice in the place where it broke was only 3 cm thick.
The Dubăsari rescuers found the body of the man at a depth of about 4 meters. They used a rubber boat to get to the place where the man fell under the ice.
At the beginning of January, a 21-year-old man fell under the ice on Ghidighici lake in Vatra town when he was fishing. He was saved by rescuers of Rescue Station No. 4. The young man was taken out of the cold water and was given first aid by ambulance doctors.
