The first United Nations Fair is held in Chisinau on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the UN. Those who want to know more about the UN Agencies in Moldova and their projects can visit the National Library on October 24, until 5pm, IPN reports.
In the opening of the event, UNDP Resident Representative for Moldova Dafina Gercheva welcomed the guests of the fair, noting that the whole week was full of events staged on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the UN. The United Nations was founded after the signing of the Charter of the United Nations, while Moldova formed part of the UN for 23 years and in the period has taken an active part in the creation of the global development agenda.
Dafina Gerceva added that since Moldova joined the UN, good relations have been established with all the partners interested in the country’s development and a number of areas vital for the state have beam developed.
Cristina Aparatu, head of the Chisinau City Hall’s Social-Humanitarian and Interethnic Relations Division, in the name of Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca thanked the UN for all the projects supported by it in Moldova, stating that the country’s people continue to count on this support.
The UN Agencies working in Moldova set up a number of stands inside the National Library. These provide information about the projects under implementation and other activities. The fair includes discussions, contests with prizes and a fair of handmade products.
