By the end of September, Chisinau will see two locally assembled articulated trolleybuses, acting mayor Ruslan Codreanu announced on his FB account.
Codreanu said the “new and comfortable” vehicles will likely service route no.22. “Hopefully this will alleviate congestions on Ștefan cel Mare Blvd and enable us to transport a greater number of passengers during rush hours”.
Codreanu’s post was accompanied by pictures of a yellow vehicle. One follower remarked the depicted vehicle looked more like an electric bus than a trolleybus.
Chisinau Electric Transport Company director Dorin Ciornîi has told IPN said the pictures posted by the acting mayor were “for information purposes only”; in actuality the two vehicles assembled in Chisinau will be painted in the traditional white-and-blue color scheme and will have the typical overhead poles that distinguish a trolleybus.
