The first section of the Chisinau ring road has been opened for traffic. The segment is 6.6 km long, has four lanes, two roundabouts and about 90 road signs. Five existing bridges were restored and another five new bridges were built.

Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița stated during the ribbon-cutting ceremony that the Government’s action program envisages the construction and modernization of several national roads. I will only mention a few of these important projects: the Otaci-Soroca-Arionești road, the ring roads of the cities of Cimișlia and Vulcănești. We will also continue the construction of the Chisinau beltway, on other segments of this project, with another 17 kilometers of road  to be built”, said the prime minister.

The road was rehabilitated with the support of the European Investment Bank. “The European Union and its partners have invested over 1 billion euros in transport infrastructure, roads and railways. Good transport connections are the foundation of a functional economy and contribute to Moldova’s prosperity and coming closer to the EU”, said Jānis Mažeiks, ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova.

The ring road will contribute to the reduction of noise and air pollution in the Moldovan capital, as well as to the efficiency of freight movement. The Chisinau beltay is divided into six segments with a total length of about 90 km. The value of the project is over 9.9 million euros.
