The first round of talks on the deep and comprehensive free trade area will be held in Chisinau in January, Prime Minister Vlad Filat announced Tuesday, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. “I had a telephone discussion with European Commissioner for Trade Karel De Gucht. We agreed that on December 12 I will travel to Brussels, where the talks will be officially opened. Afterward, in January, the Commissioner will come to Chisinau to take part in the first round of talks,” Vlad Filat said in a press briefing held on the occasion of the signing of a number of financing agreements with the EU. According to Vlad Filat, an important period is approaching. “I want to say that we are ready and have the necessary support on the part of our partners, including as regards the transfer of expertise and assistance. I’m absolutely sure that the negotiation period will pass quickly and at a high level so that the agreement is signed as soon as possible,” said the Premier. He also said that during the last few years Moldova proved that it has capacity. Over the last three months, there had been negotiated and sealed the agreement on the creation of a Common Aviation Area with the EU. Moldova also observes the terms as regards the implementation of the action plan on visa liberalization. The European Union on December 5 decided to open negotiations on a deep and comprehensive free trade area with Moldova and Georgia.
