The first round of negotiations on the formation of a new pro-European ruling alliance will be held on October 30, the leader of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu said in the October 29 sitting of Parliament. He stated that starting with this evening they will contact their colleagues from the pro-European parties and the unaffiliated MPs so as to invite them to negotiations, IPN reports.

Marian Lupu called on his colleagues to leave the vainglory, frustrations, political games and all kinds of schemes aside and to become involved in a dialog. “A simple calculation shows that we have together at least 55 votes for forming a viable, functional and stable parliamentary majority. We hope the process will be constructive, efficient and not too long,” he stated.

As to the anticipated refusal of the Lib-Dems to take part, the Democrats’ leader said they are not at the ‘nursery’ and should put the state interests above everything. The politicians should show maturity and should get rid of emotions and frustrations. “We invite them to dialogue and make a call for rapid and constructive actions,” stated Marian Lupu in his speech centering on the no-confidence motion.

“We suggest that the pro-European parties should sit at the negotiating table so that we have a new stable political coalition within a week. The PDM is ready to hold negotiations daily so as to reach an agreement on the formation of a new alliance and of the new government in several days.”

The Cabinet headed by Lib-Dem Valeriu Strelet was dismissed by a majority of votes in the October 29 sitting of Parliament. The no-confidence motion submitted by the Socialist and Communist MPs was also supported by the Democratic lawmakers, by 65 votes overall. The Liberal-Democratic MPs voted against, while the Liberal lawmakers and the unaffiliated MPs of the Leanca group abstained.
