Marching bands from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Defense held the first joint rehearsal today for the military parade that will take place in Chișinău on August 27, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Moldova's independence proclamation. Rehearsals took place under the Telecentru bridge.

Defense Minister, Anatolie Nosatîi, said that the rehearsals would take place daily, especially during early morning hours. The section under the Telecentru bridge was chosen for rehearsals to avoid creating road traffic congestions in other parts of the city. A dress rehearsal will take place in the Grand National Assembly Square.

Anatoly Nosatîi said that all parade participants have voluntarily received Covid jabs and that doctors are constantly monitoring their health. Should anyone develop symptoms of the disease, they will be replaced by military and reserve policemen.

The parade will be attended by soldiers from the Chișinău, Bălți and Cahul garrisons. 2.5 million lei have been allocated for the event from the internal budgets of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Unlike previous years' parades, the event will lack "demonstrations with military hardware or other elements from the past", the defense minister said.

Alexandru Oprea, secretary of state at the Interior Ministry, said that the ministry will be represented at the parade by 420 people. These representatives are employees of the General Police Inspectorate, the General Carabinieri Inspectorate, the General Inspectorate of Border Police, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, as well as cadets from the "Ștefan cel Mare" Police Academy. All employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs participating in the parade, as well as the military personnel, have been immunized against the new coronavirus.

The Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, President Maia Sandu, signed a decree concerning the military parade on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the proclamation of Moldova's independence. The decree was published in the Official Gazette on July 23 of this year.
