The first municipal vaccination center was inaugurated in the capital city. This is located at 18 Petru Rareș St. The building has ramps for persons with disabilities. The persons with locomotor disabilities will be vaccinated on the first floor, where there are two vaccination units. The other patients will be immunized on the second floor. The center has six vaccination units and its total immunization capacity is of over 1,000 persons a day, IPN reports.
In the inaugural event, mayor general of Chisinau Ion Ceban said the idea of opening such a center outside medical institutions appeared as a result of visits he made abroad, including to Bucharest. The space was provided by the Academy of Economic Studies and they will pay only for public utilities. The space was arranged during a week with the assistance of partners from the private sector, which provided the necessary infrastructure. About 200 persons were scheduled to be vaccinated today. The municipal center now has 2,500 doses of COVID-19 vaccines.
Secretary of State at the Ministry of Health Denis Cerneala welcomed the initiative, noting this will help increase the number of immunized persons. “It is an example for the other centers that will yet start work, in parallel with the medical institutions. This will facilitate the people’s access to vaccines. The National Public Health Agency plans to launch the platform for appointment scheduling the next few days,” stated the official.
Currently, the center provides services for persons older than 60, those with comorbidies, health workers who haven’t been immunized at the first stage and teaching staff. A vaccination unit can immunize 200 persons a day. The vaccine is kept in the refrigerator. The center includes an intensive care unit, a ventilator and an anti-shock kit that will be used if necessary.
