First Municipal Business Incubator inaugurated

Newly registered enterprises can obtain managerial support, assistance services and consultative support at the first Municipal Business Incubator that was opened in Chisinau. Mayor general Ion Ceban said that through this project, the municipality aims to create opportunities for the young people from Chisinau to start businesses in the capital city, IPN reports.

“We want this space to become youth-friendly and we are also thinking about other, more extended methods. We are working on a research and development concept with a larger space in Chisinau. We intend to find, for example, solutions of intervention through free economic zones and business relocation, including in connection with the developments in the East,” stated Ion Ceban.

The Municipal Business Incubator opens up new business opportunities for young people from the municipality and for migrants and refugees and will become a communication bridge between small and medium-sized enterprises and the local administration. Initially, the institution, which is based on an area of over 200 square meters, will host up to 30 residents.

The incubator is intended for future entrepreneurs aged between 18 and 40, with the residence in Chisinau, who want to start a business or have run an enterprise registered in the municipality of Chisinau for at most 12 months. The residents can also be migrant workers younger than 40 and refugees aged between 18 and 40, who established a partnership with a young resident, who have the residence in Chisinau and want to start a business or have run an enterprise registered in the municipality of Chisinau for at most 12 months.

The Municipal Business Incubator was created with support from UN Woman and UNICEF Moldova. Its work will be coordinated by the Municipal Center for Entrepreneurship Development as the institution responsible for the implementation of the Municipal Program “Startup for Young Migrants” and of the municipal policy to grow and develop entrepreneurship in Chisinau.
