Vadim Bunescu is for now the only athlete who scored a victory at the European Judo Championships that are taking place in Tel-Aviv, IPN reports.
In the 66 kg weight class, Bunescu beat France’s Daniel Jean, but was eliminated by the representative of the hosts Tal Flicker, who later won bronze.
In the same class, Denis Vieru lost the first fight to Azerbaijan’s Nijat Shikhalizada. The only female athlete that represents Moldova at this competition, Ana Budescu, was eliminated by Romania’s Alexandra Pop.
Ion Nacu, Iulian Peatcovschi (both 73 kg), Nicon Zaboroshchuk and Dorin Gotonoaga (both 81 kg) are yet to compete at the European Judo Championships in Israel.
