First electric bus made in Moldova unveiled

The first electric bus with in-motion charging manufactured in Moldova has been unveiled by Informbusiness, a company specializing in automotive electronic equipment. Capable of traveling 70 km autonomously, the bus meets all international standards.

According to a press release issued by the Government, at the presentation event held in Măgdăcești, Prime Minister Dorin Recean praised the dedication of the people involved in the project and in developing a key sector for the country’s economy, adding that this project marks a concrete step in the transition to green energy. “The project marks a start for the growth of this industry. I encourage everyone to persevere and produce innovations in our country”, declared Prime Minister Recean.

For his part, Dumitru Alaiba, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization, emphasized that the Government will continue to support producers involved in developing various sectors of the Moldovan economy. “Thanks to your effort, the automotive industry gets a new impetus, as Moldova becomes a car-producing country, obtaining its first VIN code. Your success is the success of the whole country”, remarked Dumitru Alaiba.

Minister of Energy Victor Parlicov emphasized that 35% of all energy in Moldova is consumed by transport, and the simplest way to decarbonize transport is its electrification. “We are becoming a country that not only consumes, but also generates modern technologies. At the same time, we offer our young people a perspective of integration in modern sectors that did not exist in our country in the past”, said Victor Parlicov.

Vitalie Eșanu, founder and manager of Informbusiness, spoke about the company’s achievements and the intention to further develop the business. This year, the company will deliver its first 25 electric buses with in the municipality of Balti. Also, the company will export to Ukraine, Romania and other countries, where there is demand for such vehicles. In the long term, the founder of the company aims to build an assembly plant for electric buses in the village of Trușeni.
