The first deadline for paying income taxes by farmers was extended until September 30. On March 30, the MPs passed a bill to this effect in the second reading, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Democratic lawmaker Oleg Sarbu said the bill aims to protect the interests of the farmers and to maintain a balance between the budget revenues and spending. Under the Tax Code, the farmers are to pay in advance one fourth of the income tax for this year until March 31. The main spring agricultural works are performed in this period and they imply significant investments.
The MP also said that the situation in agriculture is tense owing to the big losses sustained by the farmers following the unfavorable weather conditions last autumn and this winter. “At the start of the year and before beginning the spring agricultural works, the farmers are unable to pay taxes. Furthermore, they often incur additional costs because of the unfavorable weather conditions,” stated Oleg Sarbu.
The bill was submitted to Parliament by the Democratic group. It was adopted by a majority of votes.
