Eugen Doga on Sunday gave a concert in the open air at Chateau Mimi, inaugurating a series of performances called “Doga’s Pearls” dedicated to the famous composer’s 80th birthday.
Doga’s melodies were performed by the National Opera’s orchestra featuring pop artists including Ana Cernicova, Tatiana Cerga and the band Acord. Eugen Doga himself received a storm of applause after conducting, to the accompanying rhythms of an animated fountain, his most famous waltz, the theme of the movie “My Affectionate and Tender Beast”.
“I’m happy to perform in this wonderful place that abounds in emotions and temperament. I’m happy to see beautiful things, such as Chateau Mimi, revive in Moldova. But perhaps the most satisfying thing for me was the sentiment that the day of tomorrow is not going to be empty”, declared Eugen Doga.
Chateau Mimi’s manager Cristina Frolov said open-air concerts at the renovated estate will become a tradition “to promote our country’s cultural riches”.
