The first case of AH1N1 flu this season was confirmed in the municipality of Chisinau last weekend, in a man aged 58. In the November 26 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, Violeta Baltă, deputy head of the Social Assistance and Health Division, said the man was admitted to the Infectious Diseases Hospital “Toma Ciorbă”.
Asked by IPN to provide details, vice director of the National Food Safety Agency Ștefan Gheorghiță said the first case of seasonal flu last year was recorded also at end-November, but by one week later. The symptoms of flu include fever, sore throat, muscle pain, headache, tiredness, vomiting, dizziness and others. The person should immediately see the family doctor if such symptoms are present.
According to the doctor, the room where the person stays at home should be aired several times a day and disinfected. The other family members will wear masks that should be changed once in three-four hours. The meals should be rich in vitamins, protein, fruit and vegetables.
Ștefan Gheorghiță reminded that the flu vaccination campaign is underway.
Six cases of death caused by complications arising from the flu were logged last season.
