The first case of infection with the novel coronavirus in Moldova was confirmed by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection in a woman aged 48 who returned from Italy. The laboratory of the National Public Health Agency will take an extra sample to reconfirm the presence of the virus, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the Ministry.
The woman was taken from the airport by the 112 service through a special corridor. She was in a serious state of health, with bilateral bronchopneumonia, acute respiratory failure, fever, cough and general weakness. The patient was admitted to a “strategic hospital institution” where she is receiving appropriate treatment. She suffers from a number of chronic diseases, such as diabetes mellitus, grade 2 obesity and hyperthermia.
The authorities request all the passengers of Wizzair flight W6 3796, Milan-Chisinau, which landed in Chisinau at 11.47am on March 7, to remain isolated at home and to inform the family doctor so as to be supervised.
The National Extraordinary Public Health Commission meets at 8am on March 8 to present information on this case and to discuss the measures that should be taken.
