First batch of flu vaccines has arrived in the country

The first batch of 50 thousand flu vaccines arrived in the Republic of Moldova on the evening of November 7th. Starting today, vaccines are transported throughout the territory of the country and almost immediately the immunization will start. Information in this regard was provided for IPN by Stefan Gheorghiță, head of department of epidemiological surveillance of influenza and acute respiratory infections at the National Agency for Public Health.

The batch was purchased from the sources of the National Insurance Company in Medicine, Sanofi Pasteur producer, flu vaccine recommended by WHO for the northern hemisphere, 2019/2020 season.

According to Stefan Gheorghiță, at first mainly children and pregnant women will be vaccinated. Other people at high risk of illness will be also immunized: people with chronic diseases, the elderly and the disabled institutionalized in asylums, medical workers, police, military, but also persons who are part of the central or local public administration bodies.

According to Stefan Gheorghiță, the following batches are expected to arrive in the country in November. 50,000 doses will be purchased from the state budget and 100 thousand doses are expected from donors - US Equity Vaccination Center, which constitutes a program of "The Task Force for Global Health" / PIVI.
